Wedding Gifts Registry Checklist

Wedding gifts registryA wedding is usually an occasion where you receive many gifts. However, in order to avoid unnecessary or double wedding gifts, it is advisable to register at a registry and give your guests an idea of what you would like and may need. This makes it easier for you as well as for your guests.

The list below will help you create your own wedding gifts registry checklist.

  • Register about 6-9 months in advance
  • Make sure that both of you participate at the process of choosing
  • Choose gifts at all price levels (so guests can choose according to their budget)
  • Make sure you register for things you really need and would like
  • Check return policies
  • Check if (at least some) registries are also available online
  • Regularly update registry (so guests know what has already been purchased)
  • Regularly add new registries (so guests always have a variety to choose from)
  • Divide the price of expensive gifts in parts to make them more affordable

Tip #1: Even though many couples like receiving cash, it usually is not “good manners” to ask for it. If you don’t need anything at the moment, you might register at some stores you like and let people buy you gift cards (which can always be used later on in the future). Otherwise, tell your close relatives who can spread the word.
